Alaina's first band-aid injury

Alaina has gotten injuries...many of them...but this was the first one that required a band-aid. She hit her head and it created a big open wound. She didn't mind the band-aid at all, in fact she admired it in the mirror. Even as we laid her down for bed that night she was still lightly touching the band-aid and telling us all about it! (Notice the lack of pants)

Welcome home cookies

The George H.W. Bush just completed her first set of sea trials successfully, which meant that Allen was gone for a few days. To welcome him home, Lanie and I decided to bake him some cookies. She loves to help me bake, she stands on her chair and dumps things into the mixing bowl. It is very exciting for her and she talks about it the whole rest of the day! So we baked some cookies and then we had to taste them to make sure they were good! (They were delicious!)

Alaina's new favorite spot

Alaina has discovered her new favorite place to relax..behind the cushion of my oversized chair. For some reason she really loves to sit there, and when I can't find her anywhere else, she is always there.

Naked times at the Owens house!

Lately Alaina has developed a habit of stripping off her clothes at random times during the day! Allen and I have been sitting in a room as we see her fly by the doorway in nothing but a t-shirt. I have also found her eating a bowl of cereal in nothing but her shirt and then I found her playing a game in nothing but her pants, then I found her hiding in my bed wearing only her pull-up. She thinks it is so hilarious. We think it is pretty funny too, as long as it only happens at home.

View Master

Alaina and I were at Target the other day and I came across a View Master. I had Alaina look through it to see if she could see what she was supposed to and she did and she loved it! She has almost learned how to change the reels all by herself. She loves this new toy so much it comes on all our car trips and has even gone to bed with her a time or two! I love looking through it because it reminds me of times at Grandma's house.

New Navy Working Uniform

It was a very exciting day for Allen and many other sailors when the new Navy Working Uniforms became authorized to wear! Allen has really been looking forward to wearing this new uniform.

New year, new ship!

In January, Allen's ship commissioned. It was very exciting as both President Bushes were there and Allen met one of them! There was a ceremony that thousands and thousands of people attended, and Allen and I both made it on the news. It was very very cold, but still a great time. Mom and Dad got to come with me which made it even greater! The ship looked great, it was decorated in red, white, and blue. My favorite part was when they brought the ship to life and all the sailors ran up and manned the rails. It was an event I will always remember.
